He passed Ken Hitchcock (849 wins) for sole possession of fourth place for all-time wins that an NHL head coach earned. Barry Trotz ranks third all-time for the most wins that an NHL head coach earned with 914.

Ruff earned his 100th career regular-season win with New Jersey, after Oct. 20th’s 5-4 overtime victory at the NY Islanders. His 100 career wins with New Jersey tied him with Doug Carpenter (1985-1988) for the fourth most wins that a head coach earned with the franchise.

Mercer’s 217 consecutive games played currently ranks (tied) 11th in the NHL for all active skaters.

Mercer’s 217 consecutive games played ranks ninth all-time in franchise history and passed Damon Severson’s 208 consecutive games played (4/7/18 – 5/10/21).

Vitek Vanecek recorded 33 wins last season and become the second netminder in franchise history who earned 30, or more, wins in a single season.  Prior to 2022-23, Martin Brodeur was the only netminder in franchise history who earned 30-or-more wins in a single season with the Devils, which he logged 14 times.

Vanecek owns 50 career wins with the Devils, which ranks ninth all-time for franchise history. Alain Chevrier ranks eighth all-time in franchise history with 53 career wins in a Devils sweater.

Vanecek is one of 13 NHL netminders with 17, or more, wins this season.

Nico Daws was recalled from Utica (AHL) on Dec. 27, while Akira Schmid was assigned to Utica (AHL) on Dec. 28.

Nico Daws logged his first start on Mon., Feb. 12 and since Jan. 25, at Carolina. The youngster recorded 27 saves on 28 shots against Seattle and collected fourth win for 2023-24.

UTICA REPORT: Utica began its third season as the Devils AHL affiliate since 2021-22 and with head coach Kevin Dineen. Utica is 19-18-4-3 this season. Utica suffered a 6-2 loss against Rochester on Wed., Feb. 15. The team plays next on Sat., Feb. 17, against Belleville.
