Devils Post-Game: 11/1/17 at Vancouver Canucks

    • The New Jersey Devils kicked off their three-game western Canada road trip by defeating the Vancouver Canucks to improve to 9-2-0 overall and 5-0-0 on the road.
      • With nine wins in their first 11 games the Devils are off to their best start in franchise history. New Jersey started 8-3-0 in the 1993-94 and 2002-03 seasons.
      • The club remains the only team in the NHL to earn all possible points on the road.
    • The Devils are now 6-1-0 against Vancouver overall since the 2014-15 season.
    • New Jersey is 2-1-0 against the Pacific Division this season and 3-1-0 against the Western Conference.
    • The Devils were 0-1 on the power play and 4-4 while shorthanded. Tonight is only the fourth time this season the Devils failed to score on the man-advantage.
    • New Jersey was out-shot, 37-26, and took 8 PIM on the night.
    • At 19:45 of the third period, the Situation Room initiated a review under the terms of a Coach’s Challenge to review whether New Jersey was off-side prior to Drew Stafford’s goal.  After NHL Hockey Operations staff reviewed all available replays and consulted with the Linesman, the call on the ice was upheld.


    • Brian Boyle made his season/Devils debut (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) after missing the team’s first 10 games. Boyle had 15:19 TOI and 2 blocked shots in his debut.
    • Cory Schneider stopped all 37 shots that he faced and earned his first shutout of the season and the 24th of his career. Schneider improved to 6-1-0 and recorded his first shutout against his former team.
    • Jimmy Hayes scored the game-winning goal at 10:09 of the second period. It was his third goal of the season and his second game-winner (Oct. 7, vs. COL).
    • Taylor Hall assisted both of the Devils goals, recording his fourth multi-point game of the season. Hall now has six points (2g-4a) in his last three games played.
    • Drew Stafford added his fourth goal of the season, an empty-net goal at 19:44 of the third period.
    • Jesper Bratt led the Devils with 5 shots on net.
    • Andy Greene and Steven Santini were tied for the team lead with 24:06 TOI. Greene also led the team with 4 blocked shots, while Santini had 5 hits.
    • Blake Coleman won 12 of 17 (71%) face-offs.
    • Marcus Johansson (upper body) did not return to tonight’s game after taking only one shift.
