  • The New Jersey Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 at KeyBank Center in their first road game of the 2017-18 season. The Devils have scored 10 goals in their first two regular season games.
    • Jesper Bratt and Marcus Johansson led the way for New Jersey as they each notched two goals and an assist. Bratt is the first player in franchise history to record five points (3g-2a) through the first two games of his NHL career.
    • Four players recorded their first points as Devils including Johansson, Nico Hischier, Brian Gibbons and Mirco Mueller.
  • The Devils jumped out to a 2-0-0 start for the first time since the 2014-15 season, when they started 3-0-0.
    • New Jersey is 1-0-0 against the Eastern Conference and the Atlantic Division.
    • The Devils were 3-4 shorthanded and are now 9-10 (90%) on the penalty kill this season.
    • New Jersey was 0-4 on the power play this afternoon and are 3-8 (37.5%) on the power play in 2017-18.
  • Nine different Devils had at least a point in the Devils win.
  • Nico Hischier recorded his first career NHL point, an assist on Brian Gibbons first period goal.
  • Taylor Hall had two assists on the night and was one of four Devils with a multi-point game against the Sabres (Bratt, Johansson, Gibbons and Hall). 
  • Mirco Mueller also recorded his first point as a Devil when he assisted Bratt’s shorthanded goal in the second period. Mueller also led the Devils with four blocked shots.
  • Stefan Noesen (1g), Andy Greene (1a) and Adam Henrique (1a) also had points in the Devils win.
  • Cory Schneider improved to 2-0-0 on the season after stopping 23 of 25 shots against. 
  • Miles Wood and Ben Lovejoy made their season debut this afternoon. Wood led the Devils with 5 PIM.
  • John More led the team with 20:26 TOI.
  • Travis Zajac (torn left pectoral muscle, 2 games missed), Brian Boyle (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, 2 games missed), Kyle Palmieri (lower body, 1 game missed), Drew Stafford (lower body, 1 game missed) and Michael McLeod (lower body, 2 games missed) all missed tonight’s game.
