Team Notes

  • The Devils suffered their sixth consecutive loss (0-4-2) with the last four losses being by one goal. They are now 8-3-1 in their last 12 road games. 
  • Tonight opened New Jersey’s 14th of 18 sets of back-to-back games this season. The Devils are 4-6-4 in first games and are 7-3-3 in second games of back-to-backs. 
  • The Devils finished their 2016-17 season-series with the Bruins with a record of 1-2-0. New Jersey is 1-4-1 at TD Garden and 4-6-2 overall against the Bruins since the 2013-14 season. 
  • The club is now 7-11-4 vs. the Atlantic Division and is 15-18-7 against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • New Jersey was 0-1 on the power play tonight and are 3-10 (30.0%) on the PP over the last 5 games.
  • The Devils were 4-5 on the penalty-kill and are 11-15  (73.3%) over the last 5 games.
  • New Jersey was out-shot 40-17.  
  • At 10:21 of the second period, New Jersey requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Drew Stafford interfered with Devils goaltender Cory Schneider prior to his goal. After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee determined that Stafford interfered with Schneider before the puck crossed the goal line. Therefore the original call is overturned – no goal Boston Bruins.

Player Notes

  • Devante Smith-Pelly opened the scoring for the Devils at 11:48 of the second period. It was his fourth goal of the year.
  • Kyle Palmieri scored his team-leading 20th goal of the season at 5:51 of the third period and added an assist on Smith-Pelly’s goal. Palmieri also led the Devils with four shots and is now tied with Taylor Hall for the team-lead with 42 points. 
  • Hall had the lone assist on Palmieri’s goal in the third period which was his 28th on the year.  He also led the Devils with 4 PIM.
  • Steven Santini notched his fifth assist on Smith-Pelly’s goal and was tied for the team lead with Joseph Blandisi with 4 hits. 
  • Cory Schneider stopped 37 of 40 shots and fell to 19-20-10 this season. He has stopped 625 of the last 674 shots (.927 save%) he’s faced since Jan. 1 (23 GP). 
  • Ben Lovejoy led the Devils with 24:09 TOI.
  • Dalton Prout had 18:56 TOI in his Devils’ debut.
