The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Sergey Kalinin to an entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ General Manager Ray Shero. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Kalinin, 24, spent the previous five seasons with Avangard Omsk (KHL). This past year, he set career highs across the board with 12 goals, 13 assists, 25 points, 49 penalty minutes and 58 games played, while serving as the club’s captain. The 6-3, 190-lb. forward has scored 31 goals and 38 assists for 69 points and 113 penalty minutes in 213 career KHL games. He added three goals and two assists with 12 penalty minutes in 39 playoff contests. Kalinin spent parts of the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons with Omskie Yastreby (MHL), made his KHL debut in 2009-10 and skated in the 2010 MHL All-Star Game.
Born March 17, 1991 in Omsk, Russia, Kalinin has represented Russia at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, NY and at the 2014 World Championships in Belarus, where he won a Gold Medal in both tournaments.
