  • The Devils dropped the season series with the Red Wings, 0-2-1.
  • New Jersey fell to 8-13-2 on the road and to 13-19-7 overall.
  • New Jersey was 4/4 on the penalty-kill tonight and is now 36/39 (92.3 %) over the last 12 games.
  • Detroit outshot New Jersey, 28-13. The Devils’ 13 shots on goal were a season-low (previously, 16, December 8 at Carolina).

  • Tim Sestito collected the lone assist on Whitney’s goal, his first point of the season/since April 10 at Ottawa.
  • Dainius Zubrus appeared in the 1,200th game of his NHL career, becoming just the 102nd player in NHL history to do so.
  • Stephen Gionta (broken hand) missed his first game of the season, leaving Andy Greene as the only Devil to appear in each of the team’s 39 games this season.
