Game Notes

  • New Jersey was shut out for the seventh time this season.
  • The Devils closed-out their 15th of 22 sets of back-to-back games tonight. New Jersey is now 6-6-3 in first games and 7-3-5 in second games when playing on consecutive dates.
  • New Jersey is now 10-8-3=23pts vs. Metropolitan Division opponents this season.
  • The Devils’ penalty-kill unit was 4/4 tonight and is 36/39 (92.3%) over the last 12 games. They were 0/3 on the power play and are 0/12 with the man-advantage over the past four games.
  • Washington out shot New Jersey, 26-25, on the night.
  • Cory Schneider (23 saves + 2 ENG) made his sixth straight start in goal tonight. He has been the starter in six of the seven games in which New Jersey has been shut out this season. Despite the loss, Schneider is 6-3-4 with one shutout, a 1.47 GAA &  .943 save-percentage in his last 14 appearances. He’s held opponents to two-goals-or-less in 13 of his last 14 starts.
  • Dainius Zubrus led the Devils will five shots on goal tonight.
