Game Notes

  • The Devils have won 6 of their last 7 games and are 15-2-3 in their last 20 regular season contests dating back to 2011-12.
  • New Jersey opened its third of ten sets of back-to-back games. They are now 2-1-0 in first games and 2-0-0 in second games when playing on consecutive dates.
  • David Clarkson’s game-winner was his team-leading 10th goal of the season. His ten goals/three game-winning goals are tied for third in the league.
  • Alexei Ponikarovsky scored in his first game back with the team after being acquired in a trade from Winnipeg on Wednesday. He also scored in his Devils debut last season vs. Philadelphia. As a Devil, Ponikarovsky has 4g-2a-6pts in ten combined regular-season/playoff games vs. the Flyers. He scored just 26 seconds into the second period, the fastest goal to start a period by a Devil this season.
  • Ponikarovsky became the 23rd player to be re-acquired and see action for the Devils.
  • Travis Zajac scored his third goal of the year just 40 seconds into the first period, the fastest goal to start a game by a Devil this season. He also added an assist for his first multiple-point game of the year.
  • Ilya Kovalchuk recorded three assists to extend his point scoring streak to a season-high five games (3g-6a-9pts). He is now just one point away from 400 in his NHL career (411g-388a-799pts).
  • Patrik Elias recorded 1g-2a and now leads the club with 18 points on the season. Elias has 2g-9a-11pts in his last six games & his 14 assists are tied for third (E. Malkin) in the NHL.
  • Andy Greene tied a career-high and posted a team-season-high +4 mark.
  • Martin Brodeur (25 saves) improved to 7-2-2 and picked up the 41st assist of his career on Ponikarovsky’s goal.
